In many asked me where I find the keto-friendly whipped cream in the Netherlands. I thought that making a post about keto-friendly whipped cream was not needed. But from time to time, I get some questions about it.
Hence this post.
Can I find ready keto whipped cream in the Netherlands?
There is no ready keto-friendly and sugar-free whipped cream in the Netherlands. But you can do your own at home.
In supermarkets all the whipped cream spray bottles contain sugar. The carbohydrates are around 11 gr for 100 ml and sometimes even more.
The only ready-to-consume keto-friendly whipped cream in the Netherlands is the Rioba unsweetened Professional dairy cream. You can find it at Makro.
The price is around 5 euros for 700 ml of products. For 100 gr it counts 35 grams of fat and 3 grams of carbs.
The best way to have sugar-free whipped cream in the Netherlands is to buy unsweetened heavy cream (“slagroom” in Dutch) and whip it yourself.
The heavy cream has usually 3 net grams of carb per 100 grams, and it’s also very fatty (30-35 grams per 100 gr).
Below I will put all the different slagroom and the different ways to whip them.
How can I make keto whipped cream in the Netherlands?
To make your sugar-free and low-carb whipped cream you will have to buy the heavy cream, slagroom.
The slagroom is not other than a fat, liquid cream that you can whip. Of course, you have to search for the unsweetened slagroom, and the one with a lot of fats and few carbs. Prior to whip, you will have to make it “sweeter” by adding some stevia or the keto-friendly sweetener that you prefer.

Where I can find the keto slagroom in the Netherlands
The slagroom is sold in every supermarket.
You will find 2 types of slagroom:
- In the fridge, you will find the fresh one, with a shel life of maximum one month. This one is in liquid form.
- On the shelves, near the milk department, but not in the fridge, you will find a slagroom with a more shelf life. The texture is thicker than the fresh one.
Notice: when you open a cream box, consume it in between 3 and 5 days max.
To make the whipped cream, I recommend the liquid one. The thicker is great for salty recipes.

How to turn slagroom into keto-friendly whipped cream
There are 3 ways to whip your cream.
With a whisk
Using the handmixer
With the cream dispenser
I find the first 2 ways very time-consuming. So I got myself this cream dispenser. I find it easier and there is no effort like the other ways. I am kinda lazy I know.
Before you buy a dispenser, verify that this purchase is worth it for you of course.
It is true that the bottle is time only a purchase that you’ll make only one time, and need no electricity, but in order to work it needs cartridges. Every time you will want to whip some cream you will have to use one cartridge.
Each cartridge has one use only.
If you are going to buy one, know that there are many expensive brands out there, and of course, they are for professional use. Unless you are a professional baker there is no need to spend so much on a cream bottle.
I paid my dispenser around 30 euros. My rule with the kitchen apparatus is to search for known brands, brands that I have already used, and brands offering some guarantee. Don’t go for an unknown, cheap brand.
These bottles work with compressed nitrous oxide so it’s no joke. Make sure to get a good quality tool and read carefully the manual of use.
The dispenser comes in many dimensions; 250, 750, and 1 liter. Think carefully about what dimension you really need. For which use are you going to buy this bottle?
