Gelatelli High Protein Ice cream

Gelatelli High Protein Ice cream

Gelatelli is a brand with several ice cream options. I will review only the High Protein tubes, Available in 3 flavours here in the Netherlands.

  • Creamy Chocolate 111 calories, 3 gr fat, 17,3 gr carbs, 8,4 gr protein.
  • Peanut Butter 163 calories, 8,3 gr fat, 17,2 gr carbs, 9 gr protein.
  • Salted Caramel Cake 132 calories, 3,3 gr fat, 22,7 gr carbs, 7,1 gr protein.

Overall, the ingredients of Gelatelli are keto BUT they all contain Maltodextrine.
I am mentioning this because many don’t like this sweetener and consider it non-keto friendly. I don’t mind because lately my approach is more indulgent than before.

Two Flavors, namely Peanut Butter and Salted Caramel Cake contain a small amount sugar. Only Creamy Chocolate doesn’t contain added sugar.

Is Gelatelli High Protein Ice cream keto?

If you don’t mind Maltodextrin, Gelatelli High Protein Ice cream in the flavor Creamy Chocolate can be considered keto-friendly/low-carb.
Peanut Butter and Salted Caramel Cake contain added sugar, so, despite bing low-sugar and low-carb, they cannot be identified as keto-friendly.

My Opinion on Gelatelli High Protein Ice cream

The taste and texture of these ice cream is great considering the amount of carbs per 100 gr.
The 3 flavors have all an intense and enjoyable taste.

I love that they are sweetened with erythritol and stevia – and I cannot taste the stevia’s bad aftertaste either. I don’t mind Maltodextrin in my products, as long as I eat them in moderation.

Pity that 2 flavors contain sugar, even in low-amount. Also, for an high protein product I would have expected more protein than the current amount.

In my opinion, the best option is the Creamy Chocolate, because it has no sugar and has the lowest amount of calories. Peanut Butter is my second option, taste is amazing, and has the highest amount of protein and fat. Salted Caramel Cake is my last choice, as it has more sugar and carbohydrates than the other two flavors, and luckily the taste is also last in my preference.

So, will these ice cream find a spot in my freezer? YES.
Rather than indulge in Lohilo or Oppo Brothers Ice cream, I prefer this brand because the quality of taste and texture is higher, and the ingredients are cleaner.
I would like to mention the great price of Gelatelli: only 1,99 for a 500 ml (265 gr) tube.
