What I Eat in December 2024.
After years of experimenting with different diets, and saying goodbye to keto I’ve found my balance: the 50-30-20 macro split. This approach—50% carbs, 30% fats, and 20% protein—keeps me fueled and satisfied without feeling overly restricted.
While I aim for the 50-30-20 balance, I often find I eat more protein than fat—and that’s perfectly fine! Protein keeps me full and supports my fitness goals.
I track my macros and calories using MyFitnessPal app, which helps me stay consistent. Tracking may sound like a chore, but it’s actually liberating!
It lets me enjoy food without guilt because I know how everything fits into my day. No guilt!
Notice, my meals vary depending on whether I work out or not. On exercise days, I can eat a little more to refuel, while on rest days, my portions are slightly smaller, or I avoid eating snacks during the day.
Here’s what a typical day looks like, complete with calories and macros.

Breakfast/Post workout: Bread with peanut butter and banana
This is one of my favorite breakfast options. This combo is amazing, and it’s even better with a sprinkle of cinnamon powder. December is tough because we’re surrounded by desserts everywhere, but this breakfast will encourage you to make healthier choices.
- Macros: Approx. 255 calories | 22.2g carbs | 9 fat | 11.1 protein (41%-38%-21%)

Prep Tip: Warm the bread in a toaster before spreading the peanut butter.
Mid Morning Snack: Dry Plums
Dried plums are great for constipation. I aim to eat a handful every day.
- Macros: Approx. 128 calories | 28.5 g carbs | 0.2 fat | 1g protein (95%-2%-3%)
Lunch: Lean Chicken Lasagna
I’m obsessed with this recipe! It’s a great option for the festivities too, as it’s low in fat, high in protein, and incredibly delicious.
You can find the recipe of the lean lasagna HERE.
- Macros: Approx. 420 calories | 33.4 carbs | 9.8 fat | 46.6 protein (32%-22%-46%)
Afternoon Snack: Yogurt bowl with blueberries, chia seeds, protein puffies
Chia seeds are great for constipation. I aim to eat a teaspoon every day.
- Macros: Approx. 150 calories | 14 carbs | 3.7g fat | 17.9g protein (34%-21%-45%)
- Suggested products: Prozis Protein Puffies | code: SIMONAZ
Dinner: Chicken with Rice and Steamed Broccoli
The ultimate gym rat food. When I was on keto, I used to crave this combination a lot. You can tell this is one of my most frequent meals.
To make it even tastier, I add a spoonful of light sauce, such as yogurt or pesto.
- Macros: Approx. 500 calories | 73 carbs | 7.2g fat | 38.6g protein (57%-13%-30%)
After Dinner Dessert: Protein Snack
I try to avoid after-dinner snacks to promote weight loss, but when I really crave one, I can’t resist. I focus on protein-rich, low-sugar snacks.
- Macros: Approx. 160 calories | 13.2g carbs | 8.4g fat | 8.4g protein (32%-47%-20%)
- Lately loving: Double Protein Cookies | code: SIMONAZ
Total Calories and Macros
With this day, the total comes to approximately 1,600 calories: 47% carbs, 22% fats, and 31% protein. As you can see, I went a bit over on protein, but I don’t mind.
On rest days I try to keep my calories around 1,500. If I do exercise, depending on how I feel, I might eat more—anywhere from 1,800 to 2,000 calories if I’m especially hungry.
Of course, I still aim to lose weight, so I try to keep myself within 1,500–1,800 calories on exercise days, creating a deficit of about 500 calories.
It’s all about balance. I’m not in a hurry to lose fat—I’m actually enjoying the journey. Being out of keto feels like a breath of fresh air. Balance and moderation are key, and I’m loving my meals and snacks.
