Protein Pops Kosso Nutrition – Review

Protein Pops Kosso Nutrition

I was in Jumbo, and my high-protein radar (aka my husband) stopped in front of the cereal aisle.
That’s how I met these Protein Pops from Kosso Nutrition.

Even if I never heard of this brand before, High Protein” is the propaganda I fall for 😂

Lately, it feels like every brand slaps “high protein” on something, and most of the time it’s pure scam.

But I was actually happy to see something different in the cereal aisle for once.
I scanned the barcode on MyFitnessPal — and, in my opinion, the nutrition wasn’t bad.

So, very enthusiastically, I tossed both flavors (choco and vanilla) into my basket…without even checking the price tag: €7.49 per pack. Uh, that’s a lot for a pack of cereals.

As described in their website: “The Protein Pops are naturally high in protein, but also low in carbs and sugar, vegan-friendly, and gluten-free! “. Let’s see if they are any good.

Taste & Texture

Just like regular pops cereals — they’re hard and crunchy (you will have the classic “crack” sound when you bite).

Vanilla flavor: the vanilla flavour is not heavy at all, but I think the aftertaste is a bit too sweet.

Chocolate flavor: more intense, slightly less sweet. It’s not “chocolatey” like sugary cereals, but still satisfying if you’re used to cleaner snacks.

Honestly, I expected them to taste more “protein-y,” but they’re actually decent for something with that label. And I love how crunchy they are.

Compared to other cereals, indeed they have much more protein and much less carbs, for example compared to the Kellogg’s Special K High Protein (review here).

Ingredients (Choco): Pea protein, pea flour, (strongly) defatted cocoa, rice flour, natural flavoring, inulin, salt, sucralose.

Protein Pops Kosso Nutrition: Yay or Nay?

These cereals look like regular ones, with amazing crunch. In milk, they soften a bit but not too much – I even left mine for 20 minutes to shot the pics, and they stayed moderately crunchy.

For a 30 g portion, the nutrition is better than other brands, with some extra protein and much less carbs.

So yes, great to have a better choice. If you love cereals, this is a nice, higher-protein option.
But if you’re not a big cereal fan, it’s not a must-have.

My favorite is Choco — the vanilla is way too sweet for me. I like to mix them to balance the sweetness.

Will I buy them again? Maybe. I don’t eat cereal often, but they could work as a crunchy add-in for yogurt or smoothies.

Are they keto?

The ingredients are not fully keto-friendly.Pea flour and rice flour both contain carbohydrates, which are avoided on a keto diet.
So, Nope, not keto, but lower in carbs than most regular cereals — more like a “lower-carb” or “high-protein” option rather than truly ketogenic.
