Spaghetti with Meatballs: Delicious, high-protein, perfect for meal prep!
Ingredients
For 4 portions:
- 500 gr lean ground beef
- Spices to taste (salt, garlic, Italian herbs, pepper)
- 500 g tomato sauce, without added sugar, I recommend Heinz
- 320 gr pasta (fusilli or penne, I use spaghetti Liguori)
- 2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
- 1/2 onion, diced
Tools Needed
- 1 pot (for cooking the pasta)
- 1 large pan (35 cm or larger)
- Cutting board or Kitchen Robot
- 4 Meal Prep Boxes, I use these
Procedure
- Prepare the meatballs: In a bowl, combine the ground beef with salt, garlic, Italian herbs, and pepper. Shape the mixture into small to medium meatballs.
- Cook the meatballs: Heat oil in a pan on over medium to high heat. Add the onion, sauté for about 5 minutes, until brown. Add the meatballs, allow them to cook , occasionally shaking the pan to ensure even cooking.
- Add the tomato sauce: Add the tomato sauce to the pan and let the meatballs cook in the sauce for about 15 minutes over low to medium heat.
- Cook the pasta: In a separate pot, bring water to a boil and cook the pasta according to package instructions. Drain the pasta.
- Combine Everything: Once the meatballs are cooked, add the pasta to the pan and mix gently over low heat. Serve hot or divide into 4 meal prep containers.
