As you know, for 3 months <a href=\"https:\/\/trustnocarb.com\/index.php\/2024\/03\/08\/why-i-quit-keto\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">I quit keto<\/a> &#8211; and I thought it was for good. <br>All was good, I was enjoying my carbs, until I realised I missed keto.<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Why_I_am_back_on_Keto\"><\/span>Why I am back on Keto<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>During my break, I enjoyed a lighter approach to eating. However, <strong>I found myself missing the clear structure and satisfaction of Keto. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>After a brief, enthusiastic phase, carbs were no longer serving me well. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>I wasn&#8217;t particularly hungrier, but I often woke up in the middle of the night <strong>feeling starved<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Carbs weren&#8217;t effectively supporting my <strong>fitness goals<\/strong>, and I struggled lifting extra weights as I had wished.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Also, I missed the <strong>comfort zone<\/strong> that keto gave me. On keto, I know exactly what I can and cannot eat. During the break, I felt confused and unsure about foods and portions.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Eating keto feels very natural to me, and one day I just decided: I will be back on keto again.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Recap_of_My_Keto_Break\"><\/span>Recap of My Keto Break<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Overall, I am glad I had a break from keto, because now I am <strong>more enthusiastic than ever<\/strong>. I also believe that leaving ketosis from time to time is a good thing to not let our body get used to the lifestyle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">How I introduced carbs<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>I decided to introduce carbs <strong>slowly<\/strong>, to not shock my body after years of keto.<br>I introduced small portions, <strong>50 grams per meal<\/strong>, mostly at lunch, sometimes for breakfast and rarely in the evening. <br>I <a href=\"https:\/\/trustnocarb.com\/index.php\/2023\/12\/29\/keto-low-carb-meal-prep\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">keto meal prepped<\/a> and added carbs, between <strong>1 and 3 small portions of carbs per day<\/strong>.<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Which Carbs I was eating<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>My focus was still on <a href=\"https:\/\/trustnocarb.com\/index.php\/2023\/05\/12\/high-protein-products-i-am-obsessed-with\/\">high-protein foods<\/a>. But I bought also a few products that were in my banned list for 3 years.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The carbs I introduced the most were: <strong>rice, legumes, and rice crackers. <\/strong><br>Occasionally, also foods like <strong>bananas, pasta, potatoes, sweet potatoes, and cereals<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I allowed myself a <strong>free meal per week<\/strong> &#8211; sometimes more than one per week. I had pizza, fries, burgers, real ice-cream, and fried Dutch food. This break was necessary to pause and reflect on where my needs lay. It was also great to allow myself a few free meals, and enjoy again all the food that usually I cannot have while on keto.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Balance remains at the top of my priority list.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Whenever I feel the need for a break, I won\u2019t hesitate\u2014nor feel guilty\u2014to indulge in carbs, like my beloved Aperol Spritz on a sunny day. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you feel stuck on keto or any diet, consider taking a break as well.
